virgin media

Language:

The adverts says Come and have a go if you think you’re fast enough suggesting its challenging the people to say that Usain bolt is fast and so is the broadband so it’s like its telling them to try it out because they wont get any other broadband that's faster. Also at the bottom right it says RaceBolt but some of the letters look like they are moving really fast.

Institution:

The company virgin try to show how fast their broadband is so they always have things to do with moving fast. The words RaceBolt show they are always trying to show they are going to be the fastest and that they use Usain Bolt to try promote their broadband because they show the fastest people should use the fastest broadband.

Audience:

This could be aimed for both men and women but would be aimed for the ages of 25+ and is aimed for a middle social class. They might be targeting the people that have been looking to change to a faster broadband so that could be why they always try to say how fast they are.

Representation:

The advert shows Usain Bolt most of the time but its not only for males because they show women for some of the adverts. Also in the background its got the same type of effect as the 'RaceBolt' as if its moving fast and the color of the effect next to Usain is green and yellow and those are two of the main colors for his country .

what my group did for our broadcast

1) What were the five stories your group chose to broadcast?
For national news we chose scientist was brutally beaten by drunken men and stamped in the face after small talk.
For London news loom bands have become the latest craze and have become band in some school because they are too distracting and have caused fights.
for sports news we did the sports day has been cancelled at perivale its going to be in school because of a strike and on that day its going to be a mufti day and sports day is only going to be for two periods.
For Greenford news we did the school is having a summer concert on Thursday 3rd july from 6am-7:15 you can get your tickets for £1 you can get them from the canteen at break and lunch
For funny news we did Kim kardashion struggles to keep her sexy wrap dress under control as she heads to the funfair after a family dinner.

2) For each story above, explain why you chose that particular story and not something else. Why would it interest a Greenford audience?

we chose that London news because we thought it was dangerous and shows that you should speak to strangers even more when they are drunk you should just stay away form them.
the reason we chose that sports news is because for the people that didnt know about what was going to happen for sports day and that was important for the people that didnt know.
the greenford news was for people that would want to go to the summer concert.
the funny news was just for something that should have to be on the news because its not interesting its just funny.

3) What order did you broadcast the stories in? Why did you place the stories in that order?

we started with national news for more important news that would effect others aswell. then london because we should know whats happening in london. Sports next because then we know whats going to happen for the people that are doing sports day. greenford news to let people in the school know whats happening in school. funny news was last just for the fun of it so we could end the broadcast with a funny story.

4) How did you make sure the script was the right length?

first we shorten the news by getting the main things and writing them down and then after we went threw it and saw how long the script was and it seemed right.

5) How did you make sure each story was clear and easy to understand?

we made sure you could understand it by having it read out once for a practice and it made sense to us.

 6) How did you make sure the broadcast was professional?

she didnt laugh so she was able to speak clearly and she didnt have anything infrint of her so she didnt look down which made it look better then if she was looking down.

7) What was your specific role in the group?
i was the person that made the story shorter and then put it together in order of what i thought would be important

 8) Rate your group’s ability to work collaboratively out of 5 (1=poor, 5=excellent)

i think it was 5 because we got the work done with out any distractions and we agreed on the story that we wanted to have in the broadcast.

9) How could your group have worked more effectively as a team?

if we had got the storys wrote down straight away because it took a bit of time to write it all out in a shorter version.

10) Finally, what would you have done differently if you were given the opportunity to do this again?

i would of tried to look for a more funny story.
